Nuno Rodrigues

To understand Sterna, it´s necessary to know the history of it´s founder, Nuno Rodrigues. I was born in Johannesburg in 1983, traveled to Madeira Island (Portugal) in 1987 and grew up there until I went to university in Lisbon. I studied Geography, and it was precisely during the course that my love for photography started. First with a Pentax, still on film, and then, already in 2003, with my first digital camera, a Fuji. A passion that was transformed in the following years, when I started participating in small local competitions and doing workshops, then I began to realize that new doors opened for work in this area. In 2010, I jumped into the world of video, which coincides with the acquisition of my third Canon camera, the revolutionary 5d Mark ii. Shortly thereafter, in 2012, the first steps in television, from the classic passing of cables, to operating cameras at major world events. It was also in 2012 that I created my first audiovisual project, “Oito”, which gives me a vast experience in the new expression of communication in the 21st century, social networks. The natural world and everything that surrounds it, whether on the mountain or in the ocean, is my biggest motivation. People and their life stories continue to be my biggest source of inspiration.
